(Feb.) The first exhibit of various types of aircraft in the U.S., it is held in Mechanics Hall. Among the exhibits is a bi-plane built by W. Starling Burgess of Marblehead and Augustus Herring, described by the Boston Globe as being “so replete with airy, fairy grace that all onlookers were captivated.” After improvements are made to it, the plane, piloted by Herring, makes the first flight in New England history on Chebacco Lake in Hamilton on February 28, 1910.
